Scan Interpretation
Here’s a scan interpretation method for nuclear images:
Hot or not ? Is something on the scan too hot ? Is something too cold ? Look for both.
Real or Fake ? Is your finding due to a true abnormality ? Or is it an artifact from e.g. scan technique ?
New or Old ? Is what you are seeing a new finding, or has it been there for years ?
Is there anything else ? Ask this question to prompt yourself to be as observant as possible.
Is there anything else ? Look for the unexpected.
Do I have to do something right now ? Do the scan findings dictate that you contact the referring doctor or the patient immediately ?
